Sellas Winery
Sellas Winery is a family-run estate winery rooted in the historic vinicultural landscape of the Nemea plateau (Peloponnese) in southern Greece. The estate is driven by a commitment to sustainable viticulture and the production of organic and vegan wines that express the character of the local terroir.
Since its establishment in the late 1990s by the Sellas family, the winery has focused on creating wines with minimal intervention and plant-based production methods, crafted in small batches for quality and authenticity. On international markets, their wines are offered as certified organic and vegan — reflecting practices that avoid synthetic chemicals and animal-derived fining agents in both the vineyard and cellar.

Since its establishment in the late 1990s by the Sellas family, the winery has focused on creating wines with minimal intervention and plant-based production methods, crafted in small batches for quality and authenticity. In recent years, the business was taken over from their father Athasanios by the three brothers Vassilis, Georgios, and Charalampos, who have since introduced new directions in viticulture. The estate transitioned to certified organic production and — beginning in 2024 — adopted the biocyclic vegan approach.
Organic & Biocyclic Vegan Orientation
Sellas Winery’s wines are certified organic and vegan in key international markets. This means that the grapes are grown under organic viticulture practices without synthetic chemical inputs, and in the winery the wines are made without animal-derived fining agents or additives — the two fundamental requirements for vegan wine production.
Beyond organic farming and vegan vinification, the biocyclic vegan approach emphasises purely plant-based cultivation methods throughout the entire production chain. Under this philosophy, farms avoid all commercial animal husbandry and do not use any animal-origin inputs (such as manure or other animal by-products) in the soil or crop management. Instead, soil fertility is built up using green manures and purely plant-based biocyclic compost (with a high percentage of grape residues) from the nearby Biocyclic Park in Kalamata.
Sellas Winery became certified according to the Biocyclic Vegan Standard in 2025.
Wines & Style
Sellas produces a range of still wines — including reds, whites, and rosés — that are well suited to everyday enjoyment and reflect the broader character of Greek varietals and classic wine styles.
